Zusammenfassung

Huawei invites applications for Postdoctoral Researchers in optimization-related HPC platform. You will work on high-performance distributed- and shared-memory parallel optimization with a focus on foundational science and publications.

The project aims to re-platform the software–hardware stack for AI and accelerator compute, enabling thousands of campaigns, learned physics surrogates, and physics-informed priors. Initial term is one year, with potential extension.

Qualifikationen

  • PhD in physics, applied mathematics, electrical engineering, computer science, or a related technical field (or MSc with equivalent research experience).
  • Solid numerical linear algebra, BLAS/LAPACK, dense/sparse factorizations, SVD/eigensolvers, conditioning and error analysis, mixed-precision arithmetic.
  • HPC experience: MPI and OpenMP, SLURM, performance engineering and profiling (e.g., Nsight, VTune, roofline analysis), vectorization.
  • AI-stack proficiency: PyTorch and/or JAX; custom accelerator kernels (CUDA, Triton) a plus.
  • Software engineering discipline: modern C++ and Python, version control, CI, and regression/golden testing of numerical code.
  • A publication record in computational physics, photonics, numerical methods, or a related area.
  • Desirable: computational electromagnetics tools (FDTD, RCWA, FEM), and ML surrogates for physical operators.

Aufgaben

  • Re-platforming the physics. Port the solver core to the AI stack with differentiable-programming frameworks and mixed-precision accelerator workflows.
  • Building better methodology: inverse design with physics constraints and robust forward models.
  • Publications: drive methods papers and verification of accuracy.
  • Validation and partnership: own lab-validation path and industry collaboration.
