Job summary

Jobgether partners with a specialist payments client in Switzerland to recruit a Senior Java Engineer (Payments) for remote engagement. You will own end-to-end solutions in a security-conscious fintech environment, shaping architecture and delivery across multiple clients.

You will lead design decisions, implement high-performance payment platforms with Java 21+, Spring Boot, Kafka, and cloud tooling, while mentoring engineers and improving development practices in a globally distributed setting.

Qualifications

• Seven+ years of Java development experience.
• Hands-on payments/fintech experience preferred.
• Strong knowledge of Java 21+ and Spring.
• Experience with Kafka and cloud deployments.

Responsibilities

• Design and develop scalable Java applications in a payments context.
• Define architectural boundaries and data models for microservices.
• Deliver payment platforms with external integrations and APIs.
• Ensure security, reliability, and regulatory compliance.
• Build event-driven systems using Apache Kafka.
• Improve CI/CD pipelines and observability.
• Mentor engineers and lead code reviews.
• Handle production incidents and post-mortems.
• Incorporate AI-assisted development responsibly.
