Job summary

Lightly AG, a Zurich-based AI company and ETH/HSG spin-off, seeks experienced ML/AI researchers to evaluate advanced AI research proposals and papers. Remote, project-based contractor role with flexible hours.

You will critically assess scientific papers, focusing on correctness, novelty, experimental rigor, and overall scientific merit, using established conference standards (NeurIPS/ICML/ICLR) as benchmarks.

Qualifications

• PhD in ML/AI/CS/Statistics or closely related field.
• Published at least 3 peer‑reviewed papers at NeurIPS/ICML/ICLR.
• Substantial hands‑on ML/AI research experience.
• Strong understanding of scientific methodology, baselines, and reproducibility.

Responsibilities

• Critically evaluate AI-generated ML/AI research papers.
• Assess novelty, significance, and technical soundness against top conferences.
• Evaluate experimental design, baselines, metrics, and statistical evidence.
• Identify methodological flaws, unsupported claims, or misleading results.
• Verify reproducibility and availability of code and experiments.
• Review relevant literature and assess novelty claims.
• Apply evaluation rubrics and provide evidence‑based feedback.
