Job summary

Sunflower Labs is seeking an experienced Manufacturing Engineer to bridge R&D and Production, owning released product data and turning it into stable, documented production processes. You will perform DFM/DFA reviews, develop assembly instructions, SOPs, and test procedures, and support NPI to establish repeatable production.

You will troubleshoot, optimize tooling, fixtures, and production methods, and drive lean improvements while coordinating with R&D and production teams.

Qualifications

• Hands-on experience in manufacturing engineering, production engineering, industrialization, or similar role.
• Experience manufacturing and troubleshooting electronic or electromechanical products.
• Strong understanding of assembly processes, production tooling, fixtures, testing, and manufacturing documentation.
• Ability to independently review drawings, tolerances, BOMs, specifications, and released engineering data.
• Practical knowledge of DFM/DFA, root-cause analysis, and structured problem solving.
• Programming or scripting skills sufficient to understand, modify, and debug production or test tools; Python or similar is a strong fit.
• Experience creating and maintaining assembly instructions, SOPs, and controlled production documentation.
• Ability to work independently across R&D and Production and take ownership of manufacturing readiness.
• Good spoken and written English.
• EU/EFTA citizenship or a valid Swiss work permit.

Responsibilities

• Own the transfer of released products, revisions, BOMs, drawings, specifications, and technical data from R&D into production.
• Perform DFM/DFA reviews and identify issues affecting manufacturability, assembly, testing, quality, cost, or cycle time.
• Provide structured manufacturing feedback to mechanical and electrical teams.
• Define production readiness and ensure engineering changes are correctly implemented on the production floor.
• Support New Product Introduction (NPI) and transition prototypes into repeatable production.
• Create, approve, and continuously maintain assembly instructions, SOPs, test instructions, inspection instructions, and rework procedures.
• Ensure production documentation always matches the latest released product revision.
• Provide day-to-day technical support to technicians and remove process or tooling-related production blockers.
• Troubleshoot assembly, test, fixture, tooling, and configuration issues and drive root-cause resolution.
• Work with R&D when production issues require design, software, test, or documentation changes.
