Job summary

ABB Switzerland zoekt een ervaren R&D Senior Hardware Engineer voor zijn Electrification-activiteiten, met focus op UPS-productlijnen. Locatie: Quartino, Ticino, Zwitserland. Hybrid werken en internationale samenwerking met cross-functionele teams.

De kandidaat beschikt over een Master in Electrical/Electronics en minimaal 5 jaar ervaring in digitaal/analoge schakelingen, EMI, en vermogenselektronica, plus kennis van IEC/UL en documentatiesystemen.

Qualifications

• Master degree in Electrical or Electronics Engineering vereist.
• Minstens 5 jaar ervaring met elektrische systemen en complexe vermogenselektronica.
• Ervaring met analoge en digitale schakelingen, simulatie en EMI-ontwerp/mitigatie.
• Kennis van IEC/UL normen en documentatiesystemen (ECN’s, BOM’s).
• Sterke Engelse taalvaardigheden (schriftelijk en mondeling).

Responsibilities

• Voer complexe technologie- en engineeringopdrachten uit volgens processen en normen.
• Definieer technische specificaties, voer circuit simulaties uit en ontwikkel projecten.
• Leid ontwerpoptimalisatie en identificeer oplossingen voor betere integratie van mechanische, elektrische en PCBAs.
• Ontwikkel en onderhoud uitgebreide technische documentatie van systemen, onderdelen en interfaces.

Your Role and Responsibilities

In this role, you’ll help run what runs the world, by taking on meaningful work that drives real impact. We are looking for an R&D Senior Hardware Engineer to join our Electrification business. The selected candidate will join a team working on UPS product lines.

Work model: hybrid

Locations: Quartino, Ticino, Switzerland

You will be mainly accountable for:

• Execute a variety of complex technology and engineering assignments. Understanding and applying applicable processes, standards, guidelines, and requirements, including architectural and design constraints.
• Define technical specifications, perform circuit simulations, and develop projects requiring expertise in analog, digital, and power systems.
• Lead design optimization, identifying advanced technical, architectural, and circuitry solutions to maximize mechanical, electrical, and PCBA integration in collaboration with cross-functional product development teams.
• Develop and maintain comprehensive technical documentation for systems, components, and interfaces.

Qualifications for the Role

• Master’s degree in Electrical or Electronics Engineering.
• 5+ years of experience with electrical systems and complex power electronic systems.
• Proven experience in digital and analog circuit design and simulation and proven experience with EMI design, mitigation, and troubleshooting.
• Strong knowledge of environmental, reliability, and safety requirements for industrial products.
• Familiarity with product regulations and industry standards (including IEC and UL).
• Proficiency in documentation systems, including Engineering Change Notifications (ECNs) and Bills of Materials (BOMs).
• Experience leading failure investigations and Root Cause Analysis (RCA).
• Excellent command of English (both written and verbal).
