Job summary

ABB Switzerland Ltd. in Schaffhausen is seeking an experienced Service Technician to troubleshoot, maintain, and improve highly automated production equipment.

You will collaborate with cross-functional teams, support preventive maintenance, and contribute to Lean initiatives in a modern manufacturing setting. The role requires a technical vocational background, 10+ years in industrial automation, and willingness to work a 4-shift schedule with on-call duties.

Qualifications

• Completed vocational training in a technical field (Automation/Mechatronics/Mechanical/Production/Electrician)
• Minimum 10 years of experience in industrial automation in a manufacturing setting
• Experience troubleshooting and repairing complex mechanical/electrical/pneumatic production systems
• NIV13 or NIV15 electrical installation certification is advantageous or obtainable with ABB support
• Strong teamwork and communication skills with a proactive, independent working style
• German fluency (spoken/written); English is a plus; MS Office and SAP basics
• Willingness to work in a four-shift operation including on-call duties after onboarding

ABB Switzerland Ltd., CMC Low Voltage Products, with around 270 employees, is a leading developer, manufacturer, and international supplier of low-voltage protection devices and the CMS current monitoring system. Your Role And Responsibilities

• Troubleshoot and resolve issues on highly automated production equipment (mechanical, electrical, and pneumatic)
• Perform preventive maintenance and servicing of production equipment
• Collaborate closely with manufacturing teams, Production Engineering, and external service providers to ensure smooth production operations
• Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives within the production environment, including Lean Management activities

Qualifications For The Role

• Completed vocational training as an Automation Technician, Mechatronics Technician, Mechanical Technician, Production Technician, Electrician, or in a comparable technical field
• Minimum of 10 years of experience in industrial automation, ideally within a manufacturing environment
• Experience troubleshooting and repairing complex production and assembly systems (mechanical, electrical, and pneumatic)
• NIV13 or NIV15 electrical installation certification is an advantage, or willingness to obtain it with ABB support
• Strong teamwork and communication skills, combined with a proactive and independent working style
• Basic knowledge of MS Office and SAP, as well as excellent German language skills (written and spoken); English language skills are an advantage
• Willingness to work in a four-shift operation, including on-call duty after the onboarding period
