Job summary

ABB Power Protection in Quartino, Switzerland, seeks a senior engineer to design and develop UPS power electronics solutions within a multidisciplinary team. You will lead the design cycle from concept to validation, coordinate analyses, and collaborate with suppliers to define technical requirements for robust power conversion systems.

Qualifications

• Master in Electrical/Electronics Engineering with focus in Power Electronics or Bachelor's degree and equivalent experience.
• Experience in power semiconductors, inductors and passive components.
• Experience with topologies, UPS technology and power protection.
• Familiar with MATLAB/Simulink, LTSpice and C programming.
• Good English communication; willingness to travel ~5%.

Responsibilities

• Design and develop power converters.
• Specify components and define technical requirements with suppliers.
• Support the design cycle from simulation to validation and documentation, through design and test.
• Conduct complex analyses and recommend engineering solutions.
• Support operations and after-sales during troubleshooting.

We develop and produce UPS (Uninterruptible Power Supplies) for a variety of customers all over the world.We are looking for a senior engineer for the design and development of UPS Products, that define and develop innovative power electronics solutions to fulfill customers’ requirements, within a multi-disciplinary team of electrical, mechanical, thermal and control experts.If you show great interest in Power Electronics and look forward to making the world of power protection change, this is your opportunity to make a remarkable impact.Work model: OnsiteThis role is contributing to the Electrification Power Protection manufacturing department in Quartino.You will be mainly accountable for:Design and develop power converters.Specify components and define technical requirements with suppliers.Support the overall design cycle of the new product, from simulation to validation and documentation, trough design and test.Conduct and coordinate complex analyses, develop recommendations based on technology/engineering practices and business considerations.Support operations and after sales organization during trouble shooting phases.Plan and coordinate a range of complex technology/engineering activities.Qualifications for the roleMaster in Electrical/Electronics Engineering with focus in Power Electronics or Bachelors Degree in Electrical/Electronics and equivalent work experience.Proved experience in power semiconductor characteristic, inductors and passive components.Experience with power electronic design topologies, knowledge of UPS technology and familiarity with the power protection.Mastering simulation tools -MATLAB/Simulink, LT Spice- and programming language -C—Good communication skills in English, both oral and written.
