Your roles & responsibilities

In this role, you will collaborate closely with international and interdisciplinary teams on the design, development, and optimization of new ABB electrification products, like Power Converters, Uninterruptible Power Supplies (UPS), Circuit Breakers and Switches, Soft Starters, etc. You will support R&D teams in the development of mixed-signal circuits and systems, including power supplies, sensing, communication, control interfaces, etc.

The work model for this role is hybrid. This role is contributing to the Electrification Smart Power Division in Quartino, Switzerland.

You will be mainly responsible for:

• Conducting EMI/EMC and thermal simulations using ECAD models; document findings and design recommendations.
• Supporting power electronics system modeling and simulation activities.
• Contribute to simulation tool/methodology development and guide designers.
• Leading continuous improvement of simulation processes and software tools.

Qualifications for the role

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Electronics, Electrical Engineering, Physics, or related disciplines.
• Profound experience (5+ years) in high-reliability electronic hardware development and certification in aerospace, automotive, industrial, or medical fields.
• Deep knowledge of analog/digital hardware design, including filtering, protection, power supply design, communication, and measurement systems.
• Proficiency in circuit and EMI/EMC analysis, simulations, and mitigation. Preferred tools: SIMULIA CST Studio Suite, SIMetrix, SPICE, and MATLAB/Simulink.
• Skilled in ECAD tools (Altium Designer preferred) for schematic capture and PCB layout as well as Measurement tools, including Vector Network Analyzers (VNA), Impedance analyzers, etc.
• Experience with reading and producing engineering documentation, such as specifications, test/validation procedures, and technical reports.
• Fluency in English and Italian.
