Medela Medizintechnik GmbH & Co. Handels KG in Switzerland seeks an R&D Product Development Specialist Materials to join our team, focusing on development and lifecycle management of medical devices, material selection and testing.

You will define material requirements, assess biocompatibility and sterilization needs, perform testing, document results, and ensure regulatory compliance. Collaboration with QA, Regulatory, Operations and suppliers is essential to maintain product quality.

Formación

• Bachelor-level degree in Material Science, Biomedical Engineering, or related field.
• 2–4 years of professional experience in medical technology development or materials science.
• Fluent German or English; strong proficiency in the other language is a plus.

Responsabilidades

• Support development and lifecycle management of medical devices, ensuring scope, timelines, quality, and regulatory compliance.
• Define and evaluate material requirements based on product, user, safety, and regulatory needs.
• Select and assess materials for medical device applications, considering biocompatibility, sterilization, reprocessing, manufacturability, and supply continuity.
• Provide material expertise in design reviews, risk assessments, FMEA activities, and technical evaluations.
• Plan, coordinate, execute, and document material testing and verification with internal and external stakeholders.
• Analyze test results, assess evidence, and ensure compliance with defined requirements and acceptance criteria.
• Prepare and maintain technical documentation, including specifications, assessments, reports, and traceability records.
• Evaluate changes to product, process, supplier, and regulations for impact on material compliance and safety.
• Collaborate with Product Development, Quality, Regulatory Affairs, Operations, Procurement, Manufacturing, and external suppliers.
• Contribute to continuous improvement of processes, procedures, and best practices related to material compliance, biological safety, and product quality.
