Job summary

ABB High Power in Switzerland seeks a leader to guide a team of R&D engineers focused on control hardware for Medium Voltage Drives. You will oversee PCBAs, electronics, FPGA solutions and related control systems within a hybrid work model.

You will coordinate requirements, design, testing and maintenance with global R&D teams, and manage hiring and development of team members while collaborating with Product Management and Engineering.

Qualifications

• Strong background in Electrical Engineering or a related field.
• Proven track record with PCBA and Electronics development.
• Experience in project management and/or electronics development.
• Well-developed organizational and strategic abilities.
• Strong interpersonal and people management skills.
• Excellent command of English, preferably with German.

Responsibilities

• Lead a team of control hardware and firmware experts responsible for Medium Voltage Drives.
• Coordinate electronics development processes: requirements, design, implementation, tests and maintenance.
• Ensure effective collaboration with local and global R&D and engineering teams and manage line HR duties.

This position reports to:

R&D Department Lead

Your role and responsibilities

In this role, you will have the opportunity to lead a team of Research and Development (R&D) employees in the field of Control Hardware for Medium Voltage Drives. The team consists of experts responsible for developing and managing the life cycle of printed circuit board assemblies (PCBAs), electronics, FPGA solutions, and auxiliary control systems.

The work model for the role is: hybrid

This role is contributing to the Motion High Power Solutions portfolio in Switzerland. You will work closely with key stakeholders in Product Management, Service and Product Engineering

You will be mainly accountable for:

• Manage, guide, and supervise a team of control hardware and firmware experts who are responsible for Medium Voltage Drives
• Coordinate activities related to the electronics development process: Requirements engineering, design, implementation, tests, and maintenance
• Ensure effective and efficient operational procedures in all dealings with other local and global R&D and engineering teams
• Perform line management duties such as hiring, HR development and coordination of various tasks at team level

Qualifications for the role
