Qualifications

• Master degree in electrical engineering.

• Knowledge in model-based development of control and protection functions for power electronics systems.
• Strong skills in PSCAD, MATLAB/Simulink, PLECS simulation tools.
• Programming skills in C, C#, Python.

Responsibilities

• Contribute to R&D projects for AC/DC power electronics topologies focusing on control topics.
• Provide technical support in simulation studies to assess power electronics impact on grid and process.
• Support application development using MATLAB/Simulink and Real-Time Workshop.
• Execute test plans and tests in hardware-in-the-loop simulators.
• Assist verification of software according to specifications and contribute to IP strategy.

This position reports to: R&D Team Lead

As an R&D Control Engineer, you will work on technology and product development projects, identify and implement innovative solutions. In this role, you will be part of the team working on development projects in the field of high current applications like steel production, aluminum production. You will have an opportunity to make your contribution to ensure a sustainable fossil free future. This position reports to R&D Team Leader.

Your responsibilities :

• You will strongly contribute to R&D projects for AC and DC power electronics topologies for high current applications especially on the control topics.
• Technical support in simulation studies to understand the impact of power electronics systems on grid and process.
• Application development support using MATLAB® / Simulink® & Real-Time Workshop
• Execution of test plans and test cases in hardware-in-the-loop Simulator
• Technical support in the verification of application software according to specifications
• You will support in developing IP strategy within the area of your work
• You will work with various stakeholders from engineering, product management and participate in technical discussions with our internal and external strategic partners.

Key requirements:

• You have Master degree in electrical engineering.
• You have very good know-how in AC and DC power electronic topologies like line commutated converters, voltage source converters.
• You bring experience in control design for power electronics systems.
• Knowledge in model based development of control, and protection functions for power electronic systems.
• Very good skills in simulation tools like PSCAD, MATLAB / Simulink, PLECS.
• Knowledge in programming languages like C, C#, Python
• You are a true team player, at the same time, you are a structured person with strong self-management skills and excellent communication skills.
• Fluent in English, knowledge of German is beneficial
