Job summary

Sulzer is seeking an R&D Chemical Recycling Intern to join our Polymer Application and Recycling R&D team within Sulzer’s Chemtech division in Switzerland. You will collaborate with scientists on lab and pilot-scale projects focused on chemical recycling, renewable chemicals, and sustainable fuels, gaining hands-on experience with analytical techniques, reactor systems, and process development.

Qualifications

Master’s degree in Chemistry or related field with analytical focus.
Hands-on lab experience in chemical, polymer, or related environments.
Strong knowledge of analytical chemistry and purification sciences.
Experience with purification, separation techniques, and reactor operations.
Familiarity with GC, ICP-MS, and ASTM/ISO methods.

Responsibilities

Develop analytical methods for oils, plastics, waxes, solvents, and complex mixtures.
Conduct lab-scale projects on chemical recycling and upcycling processes.
Operate laboratory reactors and support experiments across projects.
Characterize samples using ASTM, ISO procedures and report results.
Present findings in project and team meetings.
Assist with pilot plant trials and scale-up activities.
Support troubleshooting during pilot campaigns and ensure safety.
