ABB Smart Buildings in Schaffhausen seeks a Supplier Quality Engineer to implement the local quality strategy, drive a strong quality culture, and ensure purchased materials meet ABB standards. You will qualify suppliers, monitor performance, and collaborate with cross‑functional teams in a hybrid work model.

The role focuses on supplier qualification, audits, FAI, and monitoring KPIs to drive continuous improvement and robust problem solving within the Electrification and Smart Buildings

Qualifikationen

• Bachelor’s degree in engineering or equivalent professional experience.
• Good knowledge of English and German (spoken and written).
• Experience in supplier quality management and supplier audits (ISO 9001, VDA 6.3, IATF 16949 or similar)
• Knowledge of APQP/PPAP and First Article Inspection (FAI)
• Strong problem‑solving skills using root cause analysis methods (8D, 5‑Why, Ishikawa)
• Understanding of statistical quality methods (SPC, MSA, Gauge R&R)
• Knowledge of technical drawings, GD&T, and material/component specifications

• Quality Requirements & FAI: Define and communicate quality requirements and lead First Article Inspections and qualification processes.

• Non‑Conformance Management: Investigate quality issues, perform root cause analysis, and ensure effective corrective actions (8D/CAPA).

Your Role And Responsibilities

In this role, you will support the implementation of the local quality strategy, driving a strong quality culture, continuous improvement, and sustainable problem‑solving. As a Supplier Quality Engineer, you will ensure that all purchased materials and services meet ABB standards by qualifying suppliers, monitoring performance, and collaborating with cross‑functional teams to achieve world‑class results.

The work model for the role is: hybrid.

This role is contributing to the Electrification, Smart Buildings / Supplier Business Excellence & Development in Schaffhausen.

You will be mainly accountable for:

• Supplier Qualification & Audits: Qualify and approve new suppliers and conduct regular process, system, and product audits.
• Quality Requirements & FAI: Define and communicate quality requirements and lead First Article Inspections and qualification processes.
• Performance Monitoring & Improvement: Track supplier performance using KPIs (e.g., PPM, OTD) and drive continuous improvement initiatives.
• Non‑Conformance Management: Investigate quality issues, perform root cause analysis, and ensure effective corrective actions (8D/CAPA).

Qualifications For The Role

• Bachelor’s degree in engineering (Mechanical, Electrical, Industrial, or related field) or equivalent professional experience
• Good knowledge of English and German (spoken and written); additional languages are a plus
• Experience in supplier quality management and supplier audits (ISO 9001, VDA 6.3, IATF 16949 or similar)
• Knowledge of APQP/PPAP and First Article Inspection (FAI)
• Strong problem‑solving skills using root cause analysis methods (8D, 5‑Why, Ishikawa)
• Understanding of statistical quality methods (SPC, MSA, Gauge R&R)
• Knowledge of technical drawings, GD&T, and material/component specifications
