Alpiq, based in Lausanne, Switzerland, seeks a Project Manager to drive hydroelectric project development across Europe in a hybrid work setting. You will support technical, environmental and regulatory assessments, coordinate external consultants, and steward projects from feasibility to commissioning.

The role requires 5–10 years in energy infrastructure, strong regulatory knowledge, and fluency in English plus another European language.

Qualifikationen

• Master's degree in Civil Engineering from EPFL or equivalent.
• 5–10 years' experience in technical development, engineering or delivery of hydro/energy projects.
• Strong understanding of technical, environmental and regulatory aspects of hydropower.
• Experience managing studies, due diligences and external providers.
• Knowledge of permitting processes and regulatory frameworks in Europe.
• Understanding of project delivery models and contractual risk management.
• Experience coordinating multidisciplinary teams internationally.
• Fluent English and another European language (Italian, French or German).

Mission

Join an international team dedicated to the development and delivery of hydroelectric projects in Europe. As a Project Manager, you will contribute your technical, environmental and regulatory expertise during the project development phases and take responsibility for their delivery following the final investment decision (FID).

Your Main Responsibilities

• Provide technical support to development teams in the evaluation of hydropower projects across Europe.
• Perform and coordinate the technical, environmental and regulatory due diligences required to support investment decisions.
• Define, manage and challenge engineering, geological, environmental and permitting studies carried out by external consultants.
• Establish and maintain project budgets, schedules and risk assessments.
• Identify, assess and manage key technical, environmental, regulatory and delivery risks throughout the project lifecycle.
• Monitor permitting, grid connection and regulatory compliance processes in the relevant European countries.
• Contribute to the identification and management of key stakeholders and anticipate risks that may impact project development and execution.
• Participate in the preparation of tenders and the evaluation of proposals from consultants, engineering firms, suppliers and strategic partners.
• Coordinate internal technical teams as well as external consultants and partners involved in project development and delivery.
• Prepare technical assessments, executive summaries, risk evaluations and recommendations for decision‑making bodies.
• Following the Final Investment Decision (FID), assume responsibility for project execution through to commissioning.
• Ensure the achievement of project objectives in terms of safety, quality, schedule and cost during execution.
• Prepare the handover to operations and ensure effective coordination with operational teams.

Your profile

• Master's degree in Civil Engineering from EPFL or an equivalent university qualification.
• 5 to 10 years of experience in technical development, engineering or delivery of hydropower or energy infrastructure projects.
• Strong understanding of the technical, environmental and regulatory aspects of hydropower projects.
• Experience managing studies, due diligences and external service providers.
• Good knowledge of permitting processes, environmental requirements and regulatory frameworks applicable to infrastructure projects in Europe.
• Understanding of key project delivery and contracting models for infrastructure projects, including engineering services agreements, EPC contracts and contractual risk management.
• Experience in project management and coordination of multidisciplinary teams in an international environment.
• Ability to structure complex analyses and formulate clear recommendations to support decision‑making.
• Excellent command of English and at least one additional European language (Italian, French or German).
