Job summary

GXP CONSULTING Switzerland is seeking an HVAC Engineering professional to lead conceptual and technical HVAC activities on pharma/biotech CAPEX projects. You will own HVAC systems through the full lifecycle from concept to handover, coordinating with process, automation, electrical and other disciplines, and guiding contractors on site.

The role requires 5–10 years of experience in relevant industries, strong HVAC knowledge, and fluent German with working English.

Qualifications

• Bachelor or Master in mechanical, process, chemical engineering or similar.
• 5–10 years in engineering, project execution or operations within pharma, biotech, chemical or industrial manufacturing.
• Solid hands-on HVAC expertise, including codes, standards and regulations.
• Exposure to GMP and cleanroom environments is a strong plus.
• Proven experience with commissioning and integrated testing.
• Confident in managing contractors and multiple stakeholders.
• Fluent German (mandatory) and working English; French is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Help shape HVAC concepts and technical requirements for new builds and upgrades.
• Act as the technical owner of HVAC systems throughout the project lifecycle.
• Collaborate with process, automation, electrical, mechanical, architecture, EHS and fire safety teams, plus external firms.
• Steer HVAC contractors and suppliers on site to meet budget, timeline and quality targets.
• Participate in 3D model reviews and interdisciplinary coordination to resolve interfaces.
• Drive commissioning, functional tests and acceptance of HVAC installations with contractors.
• Compile and validate as-built docs and ensure smooth handover to operations.
• Contribute to other CAPEX topics as needed.

As part of a CAPEX engineering team, you’ll be the HVAC reference on major investment projects in a regulated production environment, from concept through handover to operations.

What you’ll do

• Help shape HVAC concepts and technical requirements for new builds and upgrades


• Act as the technical owner of HVAC systems throughout the project lifecycle


• Work hand in hand with process, automation/electrical, mechanical/piping, architecture, EHS and fire safety teams, as well as external engineering firms


• Steer HVAC contractors and suppliers on site, ensuring budget, timeline, quality and regulatory targets are met


• Take part in 3D model reviews and interdisciplinary coordination to resolve interfaces and clashes


• Drive commissioning, functional tests and acceptance of HVAC installations alongside contractors and stakeholders


• Compile and validate as-built documentation and secure a smooth handover to operations


• Contribute to other engineering topics within the CAPEX team when needed

Your profile

• Engineering degree (Bachelor/Master) in mechanical, process, chemical engineering or similar


• 5 to 10 years of experience in engineering, project execution or operations within pharma, biotech, chemical or industrial manufacturing


• Solid hands-on HVAC expertise, including applicable codes, standards and regulations


• Exposure to GMP and cleanroom environments is a strong plus


• Proven experience with commissioning and integrated testing


• Confident managing contractors and multiple stakeholders


• Autonomous, structured and rigorous, comfortable in complex multidisciplinary settings


• Languages: fluent German (mandatory), working English; French is a plus
