Zusammenfassung

CERN is seeking a Project Engineer on Building Projects within the Site and Civil Engineering Department to coordinate users, stakeholders and contractors to meet safety, schedule, quality and budget objectives. You will be involved in feasibility studies, preliminary design, tendering, on-site oversight and project reporting, under the supervision of a CERN Project Manager.

Qualifikationen

• Master’s degree with 2–6 years of experience since graduation, or a PhD with ≤3 years since graduation.
• Bachelor’s degree alone is not eligible.
• National of CERN Member State or Associate Member State; certain nationalities excluded.

Aufgaben

• Contribute to feasibility studies, requirements definition and preliminary design for new build, refurbishment and infrastructure projects.
• Coordinate design services delivered by architects and engineering consultants, ensuring integration of architectural, structural, civil works, building services and specialist equipment.
• Engage with users and internal technical stakeholders to define needs, manage interfaces and present coordinated design solutions.
• Contribute to the preparation of consultancy and construction tender documents, bid evaluations and the appointment of designers and contractors.
• Follow up construction works on site, checking compliance with contractual drawings, technical specifications, quality requirements and safety measures.
• Monitor progress, quantities, costs, risks and schedules; contribute to payment certification, change management and project reporting.
• Coordinate testing, commissioning, taking-over and handover activities, and follow up defects and outstanding works through to closure.

As a Project Engineer on Building Projects within the Site and Civil Engineering Department (Project Portfolio Management Group), you will contribute to industrial and tertiary building projects. Working under the supervision of a CERN Project Manager, you will coordinate users, technical stakeholders, design consultants and contractors to meet technical, safety, schedule, quality and budget objectives.

Your responsibilities

• Contribute to feasibility studies, requirements definition and preliminary design for new build, refurbishment and infrastructure projects.
• Coordinate design services delivered by architects and engineering consultants, ensuring integration of architectural, structural, civil works, building services and specialist technical equipment.
• Engage with users and internal technical stakeholders to define needs, manage interfaces and present coordinated design solutions.
• Contribute to the preparation of consultancy and construction tender documents, bid evaluations and the appointment of designers and contractors.

Be sure to meet the eligibility criteria

• You are a national of aCERN Member State or Associate Member State. Currently, we cannot consider applications from Pakistani, Lithuanian, Latvian, Cypriot and Croatian nationals, as the ceiling defined under Article II.5 of the Associate Membership Agreement has been reached.
• By the application deadline, you have a master’s degree with 2 to 6 years of professional experience since graduation or a PhD with a maximum of 3 years of professional experience since graduation. You are not eligible with only a bachelor’s degree.
• You have never had a CERN fellow or graduate contract before.
