Liom, a Swiss deep-tech company, is seeking a Principal/Senior ML Scientist to advance computational solutions for a non-invasive multi-biomarker smartwatch. You will work at the intersection of biophotonics, biomedical engineering, microfluidics, electronics, and manufacturing.

You will digest complex literature, lead model development in Python/C++, and apply ML frameworks to time-series health data in a dynamic startup environment.

Qualifikationen

Your mission

As a Principal/Senior ML Scientist, you will research and collaboratively build computational solutions to real-world problems in our domain: a continuous non-invasive multi-biomarker monitoring smartwatch. Your work involves acquiring and smartly combining deep multi-disciplinary knowledge (biophotonics, biomedical, microfluidics, electronics, and manufacturing).

Your profile

• Master's / PhD degree in Computer Science, Informatics, Statistics, Applied Mathematics, Electrical Engineering, Operations Research, Biomedical Engineering, related technical field, or equivalent algorithm development experience.
• Demonstrable capacity to digest scientific literature effectively, including cross-disciplinary domains.
• High attention to detail and proven ability to manage multiple, competing priorities, being comfortable in a dynamic and sometimes ambiguous environment.
• 5+ years of experience in writing computational software working with at least one compiled and one interpreted language such as Python, Julia, Java, or C++
• 3+ years of experience in ML frameworks (e.g. Pytorch, Tensorflow, Jax), custom model development, and stochastic optimization
• 3+ years of experience in industry or applied environment
• Thorough understanding of the linear algebra, probability theory, and calculus underlying machine learning methodology
• The following qualifications are a plus:
  • Experience with transformer architectures, self-supervised learning, and foundation models
  • Experience with training and optimizing machine learning models for time series data (e.g. health signals, audio, video)
  • Experience in analyzing -omics data
  • Experience in optics or photonics
