Job summary

ETH Zurich invites applications for a Post-doctoral researcher in Science, Technology and Society (STS) in the Ethics, Technology and Society group, D-GESS, Zurich. The position is 100%, fixed-term for two years, with possible extension.

Applicants should have a PhD in STS or related field by January 2027 or within the last two years, with strong qualitative research skills and openness to public engagement.

Qualifications

• PhD completed by Jan 2027 or within the last 2 years in STS or related field.
• Distinct research profile demonstrated through publications and/or teaching in project-related areas.
• Interest and experience in STS and humanities pedagogy; cross-cutting analysis between environmental and digital domains.
• Proficiency in English, and in French or German.

Responsibilities

• Perform qualitative STS research for the project States of Anxiety: Expertise and Activism in Digital and Ecological Environments.
• Work toward publications in international journals, including co-authored papers with group members.
• Engage on ethical, social, and political aspects of digital technologies within ETH Public Policy School, the university, and wider publics.
• Participate in group events, organize meetings, project maintenance, and planning of events.
• Collaborate with professors, students, and researchers at D-GESS and ETH Zürich.
• Co-develop and co-teach MA and BA courses in the Science in Perspective Program.
