Job summary

ETH Zurich's Geothermal Energy & Geofluids Group invites applications for a Postdoctoral position focused on physics-based numerical modeling, software development, and techno-economic evaluation of energy systems from geothermal plants to subsurface processes.

The role includes co-developing an open-source power plant and wellbore flow simulator integrated into the TANGO platform, and coupling it with RAFT and other modules for comprehensive techno-economic analyses.

Qualifications

• PhD in Mechanical, Chemical, Energy, or related engineering field.
• Strong grounding in thermodynamics, fluid mechanics, heat transfer and energy conversion.
• Experience developing physics-based numerical models and simulators.
• Proficient Python programming with version control and testing.

Responsibilities

• Formulate and maintain numerical models and software for energy and process components.
• Simulate, optimize, and analyze integrated energy conversion systems.
• Perform techno-economic assessments including LCOE, LCOH, LCOL and NPV.
• Develop coupled surface-subsurface fluid flow and heat transfer models.
• Write modular scientific code with Git, testing, and documentation.
