Umanitek Ag in Zürich is seeking a Platform Engineer to build and operate the Guardian Agent ecosystem. You’ll develop backend services, REST APIs, MCP tooling, and agent runtimes using Node.js and TypeScript, while owning CI/CD pipelines and cloud deployments.

The Umanitek Guardian Agent protects people from deepfakes and digital impersonation by combining intelligence with systems built for verification and scale.

Role

As a Platform Engineer, you’ll build and operate the platform powering the Guardian Agent ecosystem. You’ll work across backend engineering and infrastructure, building production‑ready services while ensuring they can be deployed, monitored, and scaled reliably.

Your primary focus will be developing backend services, REST APIs, MCP tooling, and agent runtimes using Node.js and TypeScript. You’ll also own key parts of the platform layer: CI/CD pipelines, cloud environments, deployments, observability, and infrastructure automation.

This is a hands‑on role where ownership and systems thinking matter. You’ll help ensure Guardian services are secure, scalable, observable, and easy for the team to evolve.

Responsibilities

• Build and maintain backend services, REST APIs, MCP servers, and agent tooling using Node.js and TypeScript
• Design and operate cloud infrastructure on AWS
• Own CI/CD pipelines, deployments, release workflows, and production environments
• Build and maintain containerized services using Docker and infrastructure automation tools
• Ensure reliability through monitoring, logging, alerting, performance optimization, and security best practices
• Troubleshoot production issues across application and infrastructure layers
• Collaborate on architecture decisions around AI agents, decentralized systems, and scalable production infrastructure

Technical Experience

• 4+ years of experience in Backend Engineering, Platform Engineering, DevOps, or Infrastructure Engineering
• Strong Nest.js, TypeScript and Node.js experience building production backend services
• Experience with REST APIs, Express, Nest.js, and microservice architectures
• Experience deploying and operating production systems in cloud environments (AWS, DigitalOcean, or GCP)
• Strong experience with Docker, CI/CD pipelines, and infrastructure automation concepts
• Experience with monitoring, logging, and production troubleshooting
• Solid understanding of databases, networking, Linux systems, and security fundamentals

Nice to Have

• Familiarity with Turborepo and monorepo workflows
• Experience with MCP tooling, AI/LLM applications, or agent-based systems
• Experience with Docker or advanced container orchestration
• Experience with Terraform or infrastructure-as-code workflows
• Experience with distributed systems, event-driven architectures, or background workers
• Familiarity with decentralized systems or knowledge graph technologies

Tech Stack and Tools
