Zusammenfassung

ETH Zurich's Nash Lab is offering a Doctoral Student position focused on high-throughput analysis of protein-protein interactions. You will work at the interface of protein engineering, mechanobiology, and machine learning, collaborating with the Beerenwinkel group at D-BSSE.

The role provides hands-on training across experimental design, sequencing, and predictive modeling. You will contribute to foundational research with relevance to blood clotting systems, participate in data and manuscript

Qualifikationen

  • Master's degree in a bioscience/engineering field with strong quantitative skills.
  • Interest in protein engineering, mechanobiology, or high-throughput methods.
  • Hands-on experience with molecular biology and protein expression is preferred but not required.
  • Willingness to learn computational analysis of large sequencing datasets (Python or equivalent).

Aufgaben

  • Establish and validate a high-throughput assay for protein-protein interactions.
  • Cross-validate assay results with AFM measurements.
  • Design and construct DNA variant libraries; display them on yeast.
  • Apply next-generation sequencing to quantify phenotypes.
  • Develop pipelines to convert sequencing data into fitness values.
  • Collaborate with a computational biology group on ML model development.
  • Prepare data and manuscripts for publication and present results at meetings.
  • Enroll in and complete the D-BSSE Doctoral program in Basel.
  • Contribute to undergraduate teaching and chemistry practicals.
