University of Basel's Cancer Neuroimmunology Laboratory invites applications for a PhD position in Peripheral Neuroscience and Neuroimmunology. Join a joint venture with the University Hospitals Basel to explore how peripheral neurons sense disease and interact with immune and tumor cells.

You will study sensory neurons and neuroimmune communication, using tracing, imaging, viral/genetic tools, single-cell profiling, and in vivo models.

Qualifications

• Master's degree in neuroscience, neurobiology, physiology, biomedical sciences or related discipline by start date.
• Practical research experience and a solid foundation in experimental biology.
• Interest in sensory biology, autonomic regulation, interoception or neuroimmune communication.
• A rigorous approach to experiments and a willingness to learn new methods.
• Good communication skills in English and enthusiasm for collaborative research.

Responsibilities

• Investigate how peripheral neurons detect tissue changes and influence local immune function.
• Apply anatomical tracing, imaging, viral and genetic tools, and single-cell profiling.
• Conduct functional interrogation of neuronal signalling and neuroimmune interactions.
• Collaborate within an international, interdisciplinary laboratory environment.
