Universität Basel invites applications for a PhD position in Peripheral Neuroscience and Neuroimmunology within the Cancer Neuroimmunology Laboratory. The project seeks to understand how peripheral neurons sense disease, interact with immune cells, and influence tumor biology in the Basel area.

You will study neuronal sensing and neuroimmune communication, focusing on how tumor development remodels innervation and how neuronal states shape inflammation and antitumour responses.

Qualifikationen

• Master's degree or equivalent by start date.
• Practical research experience in experimental biology.
• Interest in sensory biology, autonomic regulation, interoception or neuroimmune communication.
• Thoughtful and rigorous approach to experiments; willingness to learn new methods.
• Good communication skills in English and enthusiasm for collaborative research.

Aufgaben

• Anatomical tracing and imaging of peripheral nerves and ganglia.
• Viral and genetic approaches to identify and manipulate neuronal populations.
• Functional interrogation of neuronal signalling and neuroimmune interactions.
• Single-cell and spatial profiling to resolve neuronal states and tissue context.
• In vivo models, complemented by cellular assays and immune profiling.
