ETH Zurich's Laboratory for High Power Electronic Systems invites applications for a Doctoral Position focused on solid-state transformer development, especially high-power medium-frequency transformers. The project combines modelling, simulation, and experimental validation for energy systems integration.

Qualifikationen

  • Diploma/MSc in electrical engineering with excellent grades.
  • Fundamental knowledge of power electronic converter systems.
  • Fluency in English.
  • Willingness to work in an international team.

Aufgaben

  • Modeling and optimisation of high-power Solid-State Transformers (SSTs), focusing on Medium-Frequency Transformers (MFTs).
  • Investigate high-frequency/high-voltage MFTs for PV systems and grids.
  • Integrate battery storage and control dynamic power flow.
  • Develop multiphysics models for losses, temperature, cooling, and insulation.
  • Optimise core, windings and cooling for efficiency and power density.
  • Design, construct and experimentally validate MFT prototypes and converters.
