Zusammenfassung

The University of Basel invites applications for two fully funded PhD positions (100%, four years) within the SNSF Starting Grant project LINC, led by Dr. Zeynep Köylü. Starting 1 January 2027, located at the University of Basel, Switzerland.

You will develop an independent doctoral project, contribute to longitudinal data collection, and participate in international conferences and publications. The role offers a stimulating research environment and salary per SNSF regulations.

Qualifikationen

• Master's degree (or near completion) in Applied Linguistics, SLA, English Linguistics, or related field.
• Strong interest in second language development, study abroad, mobility, intercultural competence, multilingualism/plurilingualism.
• Excellent command of English, both spoken and written.
• Strong organisational skills and ability to work with complex longitudinal data and research schedules.
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively in an international research team.
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.

Aufgaben

• Develop an individual PhD project within the broader aims of LINC.
• Contribute to longitudinal data collection from participants.
• Recruit and maintain contact with research participants across stages.
• Administer language proficiency measures, questionnaires, interviews, diaries, and other instruments.
• Prepare and analyse longitudinal datasets; contribute to analyses.
• Present findings at conferences and prepare publications.
