These exceptional applicants can complete a fast-track Master’s programme at the University of Basel as part of their fellowship.

There is also an important restriction concerning applicants who are already at the University of Basel. Candidates cannot be enrolled as PhD students at the University of Basel or have already signed a PhD employment contract with the university at the time the fellowship decision is made.

International Applicants

The programme welcomes talented researchers from all over the world. The Biozentrum specifically encourages ambitious young scientists internationally to apply for the competitive fellowships.

Shortlisted candidates are invited to Basel for interviews and laboratory visits. During the interview week, candidates indicate approximately eight to ten preferred group leaders, present their research and participate in discussions with potential supervisors. Travel and accommodation for the interview week are provided by the fellowship programme.

Research Presentation and Interviews

The interview week allows shortlisted candidates to demonstrate their research experience and interact directly with potential supervisors.

Candidates are asked to give a 10-minute research presentation, followed by a 20-minute question-and-answer session involving the Fellowship Programme Committee and interested group leaders.
