Zusammenfassung

ETH Zürich's deMello Group invites applications for a PhD position focused on developing microfluidic platforms to reconstitute membrane proteins into lipid vesicles. The project blends microfluidics, super-resolution imaging and membrane biophysics to emulate cellular homeostasis.

The candidate will work with ETH Zürich and the University of Bern, join ambitious teams at the forefront of microfluidics and synthetic biology, and contribute to energy metabolism research in artificial cells.

Qualifikationen

  • Basic experience in microfabrication and microfluidics; biophysics and cell biology beneficial.

Aufgaben

  • Establish microfluidic platforms for monodisperse vesicle fabrication with tunable membranes.
  • Develop microfluidic strategies for integrating membrane proteins into synthetic vesicles.
  • Collaborate with ETH Zürich and University of Bern groups on setup and labeled proteins.
  • Perform super-resolution imaging of membrane proteins in vesicles.
