ETH Zürich’s Decision Sciences and Analytics group invites applications for a Doctoral Student in Design and Analysis of Human-AI Systems. The role focuses on developing AI systems with human-centric emphasis, with a blend of theory and empirical work when needed.

The position is 100%, Zurich, fixed-term (18 months, with potential extension through the doctorate). The starting date is negotiable; the program offers a path to a high-quality PhD in a renowned environment.

Qualifikationen

• Hold a Master’s degree in applied mathematics, economics, operations, or closely related field.
• Strong academic record and is motivated to produce high-quality, policy-relevant research.
• Excellent analytical and modeling skills: optimization, mechanism design, etc.
• Have excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Industrial experience in AI deployment is a plus.

Aufgaben

• Analyze AI systems where the decision is often high-stake or with long-term impact
• Design AI systems that lead to efficient and reliable outcomes
• Write high-quality papers and publish on top-tier OM journals
• Work with external organizations to evaluate the methods if needed
• In addition to research activities, contribute to lab responsibilities (e.g. teaching, advising master thesis)
