San Diego Community College District – People, Culture, and Technology (HR) Division is seeking adjunct (part-time/substitute) faculty to serve City, Mesa, Miramar campuses and continuing education centers. Hiring pools operate to fill fall, spring, and/or summer assignments when needs arise.

These are part-time/temporary positions offering flexible hours; applicants should reside within commuting distance and may be asked to teach day, evening, weekend, and/or off-campus classes.

Qualifikationen

• Degrees must be from regionally accredited institutions.
• Interdisciplinary Studies: Master’s in the interdisciplinary area OR Master’s in one of the disciplines included in the interdisciplinary area. Note: Interdisciplinary Studies is provided to allow for cases where a course must be taught by someone with qualifications that exceed a single discipline.
• Possession of a California Community College Instructor Credential in Ethnic Studies (valid for life) OR the equivalent.
• Applicants with foreign degrees must have coursework evaluated by a professional association that is a member of NACES or ACEI with a copy of the evaluation submitted with the online application.
• Commitment to Diversity: demonstrate cultural competency and understanding of diverse student backgrounds.
• Newly hired faculty must submit official transcripts.

Aufgaben

• Primary duties of adjunct faculty relate to curriculum and teaching; assignment divided between lecture and lab classes as determined by the department.
• Provide instruction in accordance with established curriculum and course outlines.
• Maintain appropriate standards of professional conduct and ethics.
• Maintain current knowledge in the subject matter areas.
• Fulfill professional responsibilities of a part-time/temporary faculty member.
• Teach all scheduled classes.
• Maintain accurate records.
• Provide quality instruction and foster an environment that emphasizes teaching and learning and encourages free discussion of ideas.
