Job summary

CEMEX INNOVATION HOLDING in Switzerland seeks a motivated student in Chemical or Mechanical Engineering to join the Global R&D team. The role focuses on scaling up grinding processes and calculating energy consumption and efficiencies for cement, concrete, aggregates and admixtures.

You will develop methods to activate pozzolanic and cementitious systems, evaluate grinding chemistries, support SOP updates, calibration and maintenance of analytical equipment, and contribute to product development

Qualifications

• Knowledge of English at least B2 level.
• Student status: bachelor, master’s or PhD.
• Education in Chemical or Mechanical Engineering.
• English documents: CV and motivation letter.
• European Passport or ID (Swiss law requirement).
• Nice-to-have: professor’s letter of recommendation, English fluency validation.

Responsibilities

• Development of novel methodologies to activate pozzolanic and cementitious systems through evaluation of diverse grinding technologies.
• Evaluation of effects of different chemicals and grinding conditions on reactivity and quality of methodologies and materials.
• Development of diverse methodologies for product development and technical troubleshooting.
• Support on administration and H&S activities including writing, updating, and creation of SOPs.
• Support on calibration, maintenance and use of analytical equipment.

Position purpose

The Global R&D department is a core team inside CEMEX INNOVATION HOLDING based in Switzerland. The aim of the team involves research and development of new products and solutions for the different challenges CEMEX has as a key global player in the construction industry as well as specialized technical troubleshooting for all CEMEX operations, mainly Cement, Concrete, Aggregates and Admixtures. The position focus is on a project related to scaling up grinding process which involves the obtention of energy consumption and efficiencies calculations.

Activities:

• Development of novel methodologies to activate pozzolanic and cementitious systems through the evaluation of diverse grinding technologies.
• Evaluation on the effects of different chemicals and grinding conditions in the reactivity and quality of novel grinding methodologies and materials.
• Development of diverse methodologies or techniques for the use in product development and specialized in technical troubleshooting.
• Support on administration and H&S activities such as writing, updating, and creation of SOP’s.
• Support on calibration, maintenance and use of analytical equipment.
