Job summary

Omya is seeking a senior expert for raw material preparation operations in Switzerland, focusing on safe and sustainable site performance. You will evaluate processes like crushing, screening, and beneficiation, and support global standards and network activities.

Your responsibilities include leading operational projects, developing financial models, and coordinating with Regional Mining Managers, while traveling up to 30% internationally.

Qualifications

• Master’s degree in mineral processing or related field.
• 10+ years of professional experience in the raw materials industry.
• Strong expertise in raw material processing and mineral beneficiation.
• Sound understanding of mineral processing technologies as well as financial aspects.
• Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
• Strong communication and stakeholder management in an international environment.
• Fluent in English and willing to travel internationally up to 30% of the time.

Responsibilities

• Assure and support safe operations of Omya’s raw material preparation facilities.
• Support sustainable operations per environmental and regulatory requirements.
• Evaluate and analyze remotely the performance of material prep installations.
• Investigate beneficiation incidents and prepare action plans.
• Provide technical, financial and safety support to sites.
• Lead operational projects such as SBS new installations or testing.
• Support global network on flow sheets and machine operation.
• Assist implementing group standards for raw material prep operations.
• Coordinate design of prep plants with Regional Mining Managers.
• Develop financial models for prep processes (investments and OPEX).

• Assure and support healthy & safe operations of Omya’s raw material preparation facilities
• Assure and support sustainable operations in terms of environment and regulatory requirements
• Evaluating, consolidating and analyzing remotely the performance of raw material preparation installations and mineral benefaction performance (crushing, screening, Sensor Based Sorting, classification etc.)
• Evaluate and analyses beneficiation relevant incidents and preparation of action plans
• Provide support on technical, financial and safety issues to sites (last line of defense)
• Running and supervision specific projects on operational level – e.g. SBS projects new installations/testing/improvement existing sites, etc.
• Support the global network and activities related to raw material preparation operations: flow sheets, machine selection and operation
• Support implementation of group standards and guidelines related to raw material preparation operations
• Support the coordination of the design of raw material preparation plants in cooperation with the Regional Mining Managers
• Development of financial models for raw material preparation processes (investments as well as operational expense)

Requirements

• Master’s degree in Mineral Process Engineering (preferred), Mining Engineering, Mineralogy, or a related technical field
• 10+ years of professional experience in the raw materials industry
• Strong expertise in raw material processing and mineral beneficiation
• Sound understanding of mineral processing technologies and industrial operations as well as financial aspect of the different technologies
• Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills
• Strong communication and stakeholder management skills in an international environment
• Fluent in English and willing to travel internationally up to 30% of the time
