Job summary

Try&Hire is seeking an experienced network engineer to design and maintain onboard Ethernet networks for ETCS and other signalling systems on rolling stock. You will define network designs, VLAN concepts, IP addressing, and security settings, and coordinate with system engineering and cyber security teams.

The role includes configuring onboard networks, supporting testing and vehicle acceptance, and with 100% workload and potential for a permanent position after the assignment.

Qualifications

• University degree or comparable qualification required.
• Solid knowledge of Ethernet networks, routing, switching, VLANs, firewalls and TCP/IP protocols.
• Experience designing and implementing network architectures and configurations.
• Experience analysing network data using diagnostic and monitoring tools.
• Experience configuring Layer 2 and Layer 3 switches and integrating them into network architectures.
• Experience with cybersecurity solutions, security monitoring and vulnerability management.
• Fluent English is required; German is an advantage.

Responsibilities

• Create and maintain network architectures for ETCS and other signalling systems on rolling stock.
• Define, document and manage network designs, interfaces and communication concepts.
• Configure and commission onboard networks for ETCS equipment and signalling systems.
• Create and maintain network configurations, VLAN concepts, IP addressing and security settings.
• Coordinate technically with system engineering, cyber security, vehicle engineering and commissioning teams.
• Analyse and troubleshoot network and communication issues during integration and operation.
• Support system testing, vehicle acceptance and on-site fault diagnostics.
