Job summary

STAAR Surgical Company is seeking a MES Manufacturing Engineer in Switzerland (Brugg/Nidau) to be the site’s primary contact for the MES. You will work hands-on with operators, troubleshoot issues on the production floor, and liaise with IT and MES developers to translate operator needs into technical requests.

You will understand the order-to-production lifecycle, support the ERP/MES interfaces, and ensure data integrity under QA/QMS controls.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's or graduate degree in a relevant field with 4–8 years of experience in manufacturing IT/ MES.
• 3–5 years of experience supporting manufacturing applications on the shop floor; MES/ERP exposure preferred.
• Experience with Windows client/server apps, SQL Server, and reporting/debugging tasks in a regulated medical device environment.

Responsibilities

• Provide first-line MES support to operators, leads and supervisors on the production floor.
• Diagnose issues by reviewing logs, queries, and interface transactions; perform approved configuration changes under change control.
• Support floor hardware (Windows tablets/desktops, barcode scanners, label printers) and monitor MES availability with ERP interfaces.
• Coordinate with IT and MES teams to ensure accurate data flow and prevent duplicate transactions.
• Maintain issue logs, provide on-call escalation, and contribute to root-cause analysis and knowledge-base articles.
• Follow change control and QMS processes (ISO 13485, 21 CFR Part 11).
