Zusammenfassung

Randstad Switzerland is seeking an MES Engineer for a pharmaceutical client in Luzern. You will support the implementation, configuration, and maintenance of PAS-X MES solutions, develop and maintain GMBR recipes and design standards, and provide hands-on technical support to manufacturing operations.

Working under the Process Automation MES Lead, you will help standardize processes, assist with change controls, and ensure the MES stack remains validated.

Qualifikationen

• Bachelor’s degree in Life Science or equivalent practical experience (2–3 years in MES).
• 2+ years in Automation or Engineering in Biologics, Food, Medical Devices, or Pharma.
• Familiar with validation/SDLC and change controls (GAMP 5).
• Hands-on MES GMBR configuration, testing, and support (PAS-X preferred).
• Awareness of MES integration with DeltaV and SAP interfaces.
• Strong multi-tasking, problem-solving, and communication skills (English B2/C1).
• Exposure to commissioning/validation and test protocol execution is a plus.

About the work

We are currently seeking an MES Engineer who will support the implementation, configuration, and maintenance of MES (PAS-X) solutions, contribute to developing and maintaining GMBR recipes and design standards, and provide hands‑on technical support to manufacturing operations in a cross‑functional environment.

The Schachen site Process Automation MES team provides a strategic link between our early and late‑stage pipeline and will be responsible for developing and maintaining ‘Line of Sight’ for new technology and innovative processes. The MES Engineer will support simplification, standardization, and continuous improvement of implemented MES solutions, working under the guidance of senior team members and the Process Automation MES Lead.

Tasks & Responsibilities

• Inspire Diversity and Inclusion – building effective working relationships within a cross‑functional team across different cultures and backgrounds.
• Configure, build, and maintain MES (PAS-X) GMBRs and recipes in line with established Design Standards and site requirements.
• Execute test, verify, and document activities in support of GMBR releases and system changes.
• Provide day‑to‑day MES (PAS-X) support to manufacturing operations, including troubleshooting of recipe execution and electronic batch record (EBR) issues.
• Support investigations and deviations by helping identify and resolve MES and automation‑related problems.
• Prepare and execute Change Controls under guidance, ensuring they are raised and closed on time and in compliance with quality standards.
• Support MES administration and maintenance activities to ensure automation systems remain in a validated state.
• Support the integration of PAS‑X with the site automation layer (e.g., DeltaV Level 2 batch integration) and with SAP (COMET/iMES) under the direction of senior engineers.
• Contribute to continuous improvement of business process flows and technical MES workflows.
• Support the development and updating of automation SOPs, training packages, and delivery of MES trainings to end users.
• Ensure all documentation is compliant with SDLC requirements.
• Support Tech Transfer of process technologies from early‑stage pipeline facilities from an MES perspective.
• Any other duties assigned by Process Automation MES Lead.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Life Science discipline or equivalent practical experience of at least 2-3 years of experience in MES area: PAS‑X system experience is a strong advantage.
• At least 2 years of experience in Automation or Engineering function for Biologics, Food, Medical Devices, or Pharmaceutical Industries.
• Working knowledge of computer validation/SDLC requirements and change control procedures (e.g., GAMP 5).
• Hands‑on experience in, MES GMBR configuration, testing, and execution support, PAS‑X system experience is an advantage.
• Awareness of MES integration concepts, including MES‑to‑automation (e.g., DeltaV) and MES‑to‑SAP interfaces, is an advantage.
• Ability to manage multiple priorities and to know when to elevate for resolution.
• Solid problem‑solving and troubleshooting skills, with a hands‑on, detail‑oriented mindset.
• Effective oral / written communication skills in English (B2/C1).
• Exposure to commissioning and validation, test protocol execution (e.g., Kneat eVal), is an advantage.
