About PREEN

PREEN Technologies is a Swiss robotics company pioneering the world’s first AI-powered, touchless car wash system. Our technology is already deployed with real customers, validating both the demand and the impact of our solution.

We are building the platform that will enable global rollout: combining computer vision, robotics, distributed systems, and cloud services into a robust, scalable system. Beyond technology, we are driven by sustainability, enabling car care that uses less water, fewer chemicals, and smarter energy consumption.

Our mission is to deliver a car wash experience that is faster, smarter, and truly touchless, setting a new standard for both vehicle care and environmental responsibility.

As we scale, we are growing our core engineering team to meet the demands of our clients.

Tasks

Role overview

We are looking for a Machine Design Engineer to own the physical machine platform of our washbay. You will be responsible for the mechanical, electrical and fluid systems that make up the machine, ensuring they are robust, manufacturable and ready for deployment.

You will work across the complete product lifecycle:

  • Designing and improving mechanical assemblies and machine architecture
  • Developing electrical hardware and machine layouts
  • Designing pneumatic and hydraulic systems
  • Supporting prototype development, commissioning and field installations
  • Driving machine reliability, serviceability and continuous product improvement

This is a highly hands-on role. You will regularly move between CAD, supplier discussions, prototype assembly and testing on the machine. Working closely with the Robotics & Controls Engineer and the software team, you will ensure that every new machine is reliable, safe and ready for production.

Key responsibilities

  • Own the mechanical design of the washbay, developing robust machine assemblies, support structures, component integrations and production documentation from concept through deployment
  • Design and improve pneumatic and hydraulic subsystems, including component selection, routing, testing and troubleshooting
  • Design electrical hardware for the machine, including electrical cabinet layouts, cable routing and hardware integration in collaboration with the Robotics & Controls Engineer
  • Develop products with manufacturing, assembly and serviceability in mind, reducing installation complexity and improving reliability
  • Maintain CAD assemblies, drawings, BOMs and engineering documentation throughout the product lifecycle
  • Collaborate with suppliers and manufacturing partners on fabrication, sourcing and technical clarifications
  • Support prototype assembly, validation testing and engineering troubleshooting
  • Support commissioning teams during first-of-kind installations and major customer deployments
  • Contribute to machine safety, risk assessments and CE certification together with external safety experts
  • Drive continuous product improvements based on feedback from production, commissioning and field operation
  • Help establish scalable engineering processes, including CAD/PDM management, part libraries and engineering documentation standards
Requirements

Must-have

  • 5+ years of professional experience designing industrial machinery or complex mechatronic systems
  • Strong mechanical design experience using professional CAD software (Fusion 360, SolidWorks, or similar)
  • Experience designing sheet metal, machined parts and welded assemblies for manufacturing
  • Experience with pneumatic and hydraulic systems
  • Experience designing electrical hardware for industrial machinery, including electrical cabinets and component integration
  • Good understanding of industrial machine safety and CE requirements
  • Experience managing suppliers and supporting prototype builds or machine commissioning
  • Comfortable working directly on prototypes and production machines
  • Hands‑on, pragmatic engineering mindset with strong problem-solving skills
  • Fluent English

Nice-to-have

  • Experience with industrial robotics or robotic cells
  • Experience with PDM/PLM systems and engineering change management
  • Experience implementing ERP/BOM workflows
  • Knowledge of DFM/DFA and cost optimisation
  • Experience working with machinery exposed to wet, outdoor or harsh industrial environments
  • German is a plus
Benefits

What we offer

  • Direct impact: the motion you tune and the logic you write will run on real robots washing real cars, you’ll see your work in the physical world, not just in dashboards
  • Breadth of challenges: from robot kinematics and motion optimisation to PLC programming to machine safety, you’ll touch the whole machine, not just one corner of it
  • Ownership & influence: in a small team, your decisions will directly shape the machine, its safety concept, and our engineering practices
  • Young, motivated team: work side by side with passionate engineers who care about building, not politics. Everyone rolls up their sleeves and contributes
