A leading agricultural firm is seeking a Licensing Manager to oversee the development of protected fruit varieties in Brazil, focusing on grapes, mangos, and citrus. This role requires a minimum of 10 years in the agriculture industry, experience with fruit production, and fluency in English and preferably Portuguese. The candidate will be responsible for business development, promoting fruit programs, and managing relationships with growers and licensees.
POSITION REPORTS TO: Global Licensing Vice President
TERRITORY: Northeast Brazil
The Licensing Manager manages the development of Sun World protected fruit varieties in Brazil. This position will focus on grapes, mangos & citrus. This role will entail working closely with the Company’s variety development (fruit breeding) staff as well as nurseries and producers that are licensed to propagate vines and trees and produce fruit from them.
INTERACTION REQUIRED WITH: Grape, mango and citrus grower-marketer licensees and non licensees throughout Brazil & LATAM. Potential licensees in new territories (as required). Sun World Licensing, variety development and commercial farming staff. Sun World IP Attorneys, and administrative staff.
Ability to work outside of normal business hours when required, including nights and weekends. Ability to work in fast-paced, demanding environment.
Bachelor of Science in Agricultural Science, Business or similar preferred, OR equivalent experience.
Minimum 10 years in agriculture industry preferably with exposure to, and familiarity with, fruit and the producer community.
Experience With Table Grapes, Mangoes And/or Citrus Preferred.
Familiarity with proprietary fruit varieties, the fruit breeding and plant propagation processes.
Fluency in English required. Fluency in Portuguese strongly preferred; however, Spanish is also acceptable.
Supervisory Experience Preferred.
Strong written and verbal communication skills; written and verbal fluency in English required.
Highly responsive and organized.
Proficiency using Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Teams, PowerPoint)
Ability to travel 3 days per week on average within the Northeast region of Brazil.
Ability to travel to international locations (California & Peru) to attend meetings, trainings or seminars. Can expect 4 trips per year lasting 7 – 10 days each trip.
This position will have 1 direct report initially, and in the future, 2 direct reports.
The person must be located within the northeast region of Brazil. Ideal locations include: Petrolina, Bahia, Pernambuco or Salvador de Bahia.
Depending on location – either 100% remote or hybrid.
