The candidate should bring 8–10 years in Swiss banking law, expertise in Commodity Trade Finance, and fluent French/English. Swiss residency is required; the position offers a challenging, collaborative environment in Geneva.

Aufgaben

• Provide legal advice and support to bank departments on regulatory matters.
• Draft, review and negotiate banking agreements, esp. Commodity Trade Finance documentation.
• Advise on legal risks and ensure compliance with laws, regs and internal policies.
• Handle requests and decisions from Swiss or international authorities.
• Draft and review internal policies, directives and procedures.
• Conduct legal research on banking and regulatory topics.
• Coordinate with Front Office on legal documentation.
• Monitor Swiss legislation developments and assess impact.
• Support Compliance on cross-functional matters.
• Prepare memoranda, reports and minutes as required.
• Deliver internal legal training when necessary.
• Act as back-up on legal matters when required.

For one of our clients, a bank based in Geneva, we are looking for a:

LEGAL ADVISOR

Job description

• Provide legal advice and support to the Bank's various departments on a broad range of legal and regulatory matters
• Draft, review and negotiate legal agreements and banking documentation, particularly in relation to Commodity Trade Finance, Wealth Management and Financial Institutions activities
• Advise internal stakeholders on legal risks and propose pragmatic solutions in line with applicable laws, regulations and internal policies
• Handle requests, investigations and decisions issued by Swiss or international judicial, administrative and supervisory authorities
• Draft and review internal policies, directives, procedures and forms to ensure compliance with applicable legal requirements
• Conduct legal research and provide analyses on various banking and regulatory matters
• Negotiate legal documentation with clients and their legal representatives in coordination with Front Office teams
• Handle legal matters related to client succession cases
• Coordinate and monitor external legal counsel on banking matters, legal advice and litigation
• Monitor developments in Swiss legislation and regulations and assess their impact on the Bank's activities
• Support the implementation of new or amended legal requirements within the organisation
• Provide support to the Compliance function on cross-functional matters
• Prepare legal memoranda, reports and minutes as required
• Deliver internal legal training when necessary
• Act as back-up on legal matters when required

Required profile

• Minimum 8-10 years of experience in a similar legal position within the Swiss banking sector
• Strong knowledge and proven experience in Commodity Trade Finance is mandatory
• Excellent knowledge of the Swiss banking environment and applicable laws and regulations
• Good understanding of regulatory and compliance matters
• Excellent legal analysis, drafting and negotiation skills
• Strong organisational skills and ability to prioritise and manage several matters simultaneously
• Autonomous, proactive and solution-oriented approach
• Strong sense of responsibility, discretion and professional ethics
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills and ability to work effectively with various internal and external stakeholders
• Very good command of standard IT and MS Office tools
• Fluent in French and English both written and spoken
• Swiss residency required
