Job summary

Novartis AG in Basel, Switzerland, seeks a Senior Expert I/II, Data Science to lead the Scientific AI Platform initiatives within DAx. You will build enterprise-grade AI analysis platforms and data products to accelerate drug discovery, guiding multidisciplinary teams and partnering with enterprise IT.

Hybrid work is available, with the role reporting to the Head of Data Science, DAx. The role requires advanced AI/ML research background, hands-on data engineering, and experience deploying

Qualifications

• PhD in AI/ML or related field or equivalent practical experience.
• MS degree with 5+ years relevant post-graduate experience considered.
• 3+ years in scientific data science or AI/ML within biopharma/tech.

Responsibilities

• Translate AI needs into decision-enabling solutions.
• Build scalable omics pipelines, APIs, and data products.
• Scale AI workflows with FAIR data practices.
• Prioritize resources against changing research needs.
• Establish governance, deployment, and lifecycle practices.
• Mentor cross-functional teams of scientists and engineers.
• Oversee external vendors and service providers.
• Communicate strategy and results through internal/external docs and presentations.
