Exyte is seeking a Lead Engineer Building Automation to take technical ownership of complex BA projects in pharma, life sciences, and industrial sectors. You will work with interdisciplinary teams to develop innovative, compliant automation solutions from concept through commissioning.

You will lead engineers, define automation concepts, and ensure integration with BA/BMS/EMS, HVAC, electrical, and IT systems while maintaining quality and regulatory standards across all deliverables.

Qualifikationen

• Experience designing and implementing building automation projects in pharma, life sciences, or industrial sectors.
• Lead engineer or team leadership experience.
• Strong knowledge of BAS/BMS/EMS and related standards.
• Ability to coordinate across HVAC, electrical, IT, and process systems.
• Familiarity with Swiss standards (SIA, SWKI, VKF) and EN/ISO standards.
• Skilled in preparing tender docs, RFQs, and supplier evaluations.
• Excellent German and English communication skills.
• Willingness to travel within Switzerland and nearby locations.

As a Lead Engineer Building Automation, you will take technical ownership of complex building automation projects within the pharmaceutical, life sciences, and industrial sectors. Working closely with interdisciplinary project teams, you will develop innovative and sustainable automation solutions and support projects from concept through commissioning.
In this role, you will actively contribute your technical expertise, support engineers in solving complex challenges, and help drive the development of standards, best practices, and innovative solutions within the discipline.

Explore your tasks and responsibilities

• Technical leadership and coordination of building automation scopes within complex pharmaceutical, life sciences, and industrial projects throughout all project phases


• Development and definition of automation concepts, technical standards, and best practices for Building Automation, Building Management, and Environmental Monitoring Systems (BA/BMS/EMS)


• Technical leadership and coordination of building automation engineers, including support for complex technical issues and decision-making processes


• Ensuring technical integration and coordination between building automation, HVAC, electrical, IT, process, and safety systems


• Responsibility for the quality, consistency, and compliance of all building automation deliverables with applicable standards and regulations


• Review and approval of automation concepts, functional specifications, technical specifications, and engineering documentation


• Preparation of tender documentation, technical requirements, and RFQs, as well as technical evaluation of supplier proposals and development of award recommendations for our clients


• Acting as the primary technical contact for clients, project management, suppliers, and engineering disciplines in all matters related to building automation


• Supporting cost estimates, schedule planning, and technical risk management within the building automation scope


• Promoting knowledge sharing and providing coaching and mentoring to engineers within the discipline

Show your expertise

• Degree (University of Applied Sciences or ETH) or Technician/HF qualification in Building Automation, Automation Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Information Technology, or a comparable qualification with relevant professional experience


• Several years of experience in the design and implementation of building automation projects, ideally in the pharmaceutical, life sciences, or industrial sectors


• Experience leading engineering teams or serving in a Lead Engineer role


• In-depth knowledge of Building Automation Systems (BAS), Building Management Systems (BMS), and Environmental Monitoring Systems (EMS)


• Good knowledge of Swiss standards and guidelines (SIA, SWKI, VKF) as well as relevant EN and ISO standards


• Experience in developing and evaluating automation concepts, specifications, and tender documents


• Strong understanding of interdisciplinary interfaces between building automation, HVAC, electrical systems, and process facilities


• Ability to independently analyze complex technical challenges and develop sustainable solutions


• Coaching and mentoring skills to support the professional development of Engineers and Senior Engineers


• Strong communication skills in German and English


• Willingness to travel for project-related activities within Switzerland and to client and project locations within a radius of up to 500 km
