Straightline Consulting Limited is seeking a Commissioning Manager - Project Lead to oversee safe, timely design, installation, and commissioning of MEP systems and IT infrastructure within the built environment. You will provide leadership across multiple projects, ensuring on-time delivery, adherence to specifications, and top-quality handover.

The role requires a minimum of 5 years’ technical experience, data centre commissioning expertise, and proven team management skills.

• Ability to develop commissioning method statements, test scripts, plans, and reports.

Role Overview

The Commissioning Manager - Project Lead is responsible for the safe, timely, and efficient design, installation, and commissioning of MEP systems and IT infrastructure within the built environment. This role provides leadership across multiple projects, ensuring works are delivered on time, to specification, and to the highest quality standards.

Key Responsibilities:

• Lead and manage MEP works across multiple projects, ensuring timely and compliant commissioning.
• Supervise and mentor Commissioning Engineers and subcontractors, ensuring they are trained, competent, and motivated.
• Conduct site surveys and provide findings to project teams.
• Lead and contribute to project meetings, preparing reports as required.
• Build and maintain strong relationships with clients, contractors, and internal teams.
• Review final stage designs to ensure specification compliance and identify value engineering opportunities.
• Oversee on-site building services installation and commissioning, ensuring compliance with professional and statutory standards.
• Drive continuous improvement by contributing to post-installation lessons learned processes.
• Stay up to date with industry best practices, applying new knowledge to maintain technical excellence.
• Always ensure strict adherence to health and safety policies.

Technical Skills & Experience

• Minimum of 5 years’ technical experience in design, build, and commissioning of MEP services
• Commissioning of data centres – essential.
• Proven experience managing teams - essential.
• Previous experience in M&E project management - essential.
• Confident in presenting to stakeholders - essential
• Strong knowledge of project management processes.
• Ability to develop commissioning method statements, test scripts, plans, and reports.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications.

Qualifications

• Completion of trade apprenticeship or relevant electrical/mechanical qualifications – essential.
• BEng (Hons) in an engineering discipline or equivalent – highly desirable.
