Job summary

Fortinet, Inc. is seeking a curious Junior Systems Engineer to join the Zurich-area Inside Regional Account Manager team. You’ll build your expertise in Fortinet technologies while supporting the iRAM team and engaging in customer meetings, demos, and PoCs.

The role blends hands-on lab work with field learning, progressing toward autonomous Fortinet SE responsibilities. You will learn from senior SEs and engineers, develop lab environments, and contribute to demonstrations and technical sessions

Qualifications

• Solid foundation in networking and IT security.
• Willingness to learn and develop into a customer-facing pre-sales SE.
• Ability to work with sales teams and customers.
• Based in the Zurich area with German and English skills.
• Experience with Fortinet products is a plus but not required.

Responsibilities

• Support the iRAM Sales Team and opportunities.
• Assist with technical discovery and qualification of customer requirements.
• Prepare technical presentations, demonstrations and solution proposals.
• Participate in customer meetings and workshops, initially with senior SEs.
• Help answer technical questions and coordinate with Fortinet specialists when needed.
• Follow up on technical actions generated during customer engagements.
• Develop Fortinet Platform Expertise.
• Build and maintain demonstration environments.
• Configure Fortinet solutions in lab and customer environments.
• Troubleshoot technical issues with guidance from experienced SEs.

Fortinet is looking for an enthusiastic and technically curious Junior Systems Engineer (SE) to join and support our growing Inside Regional Account Manager (iRAM) Territory team in the Zurich area.

This is an excellent opportunity for someone at the beginning of their cybersecurity career who already has a solid foundation in networking and IT security and wants to develop into a customer-facing pre-sales Systems Engineer.

Working alongside experienced Fortinet Systems Engineers, Account Managers and technology specialists, you will help the iRAM team support a growing customer base. You will participate in customer meetings, technical demonstrations, workshops and Proofs of Concept while progressively developing the technical and business skills required to manage your own opportunities.

The objective is clear: grow into an autonomous Fortinet Systems Engineer while immediately adding technical capacity to the iRAM team.

Key Responsibilities

• Support the iRAM Sales Team
• Work closely with iRAM Account Managers and experienced Systems Engineers on customer opportunities.
• Assist with technical discovery and qualification of customer requirements.
• Prepare technical presentations, demonstrations and solution proposals.
• Participate in customer meetings and workshops, initially alongside senior SEs and progressively taking greater ownership.
• Help answer technical questions and coordinate with Fortinet specialists when deeper expertise is required.
• Follow up on technical actions generated during customer engagements.
• Technical Demonstrations & PoCs
• Build and maintain demonstration environments.
• Support customer Proofs of Concept (PoCs) and evaluations.
• Assist in defining test scenarios and success criteria.
• Configure Fortinet solutions in lab and customer environments.
• Troubleshoot technical issues with guidance from experienced SEs when needed.
• Document configurations, test results and technical outcomes.
• Develop Fortinet Platform Expertise

Build hands-on expertise across the Fortinet Security Fabric, starting with core technologies such as:

• FortiGate
• Secure Networking
• SD-WAN
• VPN
• FortiSwitch
• FortiAP
• FortiManager
• FortiClient / ZTNA
• FortiSASE
• FortiGuard Security Services

The expectation is not to be an expert across the portfolio from day one. Curiosity, hands-on learning and the ability to develop rapidly are more important.

• Support technical engagements with Fortinet partners.
• Work closely with the wider Swiss Systems Engineering organization.
• Learn from senior SEs and Fortinet technology specialists.
• Share lab configurations, demonstrations and technical knowledge with the team.
• Contribute to customer events, webinars and technical sessions as experience develops.

• Education & Experience, we would consider candidates with:

• A degree, apprenticeship or technical education in Computer Science, Networking, Cybersecurity or a related area, or equivalent practical experience.
• Initial professional experience in networking, cybersecurity, technical support, consulting or pre-sales is an advantage.
• Networking or cybersecurity certifications are beneficial.
• Fortinet certifications are an advantage but not mandatory.
  

Languages & Location

• Based in or able to regularly work from the Zurich area.
• German and English communication skills.
• French and/or Italian are additional advantages.
• Willingness to visit customers and partners within Switzerland.
