Job summary

Siemens Schweiz AG is offering an Internship or Working Student position in System Applications. You will collaborate with diverse teams to learn product lifecycle management, improve processes, and contribute to a cloud-enabled Building X platform.

You’ll work 50–100% with flexible options for remote work and on-site collaboration. Ideal candidates are university students in Mechanical, Electrical, or IT, with strong analytics, self-drive, and fluent business English (German is a plus).

Qualifications

  • Involves university studies in engineering or IT with an interest in process management.
  • Strong analytical and documentation skills are required.
  • Fluent business English; German is a plus.
  • Interest in building automation and software development topics.

Responsibilities

  • Support process management and improve documentation.
  • Develop simulations and models using Python and MATLAB/Simulink.
  • Contribute to building automation topics and testing.
  • Participate in agile standups and sprint demos.

In this role, you will collaborate with a wide range of teams and disciplines, gaining valuable insights into product lifecycle management and process governance in a global organization. We are looking for a motivated and detail-oriented working student to support our Process Management team in improving processes, maintaining documentation, and driving continuous improvement initiatives.

You make your own individual contribution in small project teams with regular standup meetings and agile development methodologies, and you have the opportunity to present your results in sprint demos. You will have the option to work from home as well as on-site, offering you the flexibility to coordinate your working hours with your study schedule. We can offer you a variety of topics

In most of our projects, you will be using programming languages like Python, and GitLab as a software development platform where you can improve or build up your knowledge. Contribution to Building automation domain topics with software development and simulation is possible.

TOPIC 1

TOPIC 2

General simulation support: hardware in the loop simulation, fault simulation, plant modelling.

TOPIC 3

Improve an existing simulation-based development environment in Matlab/Simulink, develop new models and core features like building plant and automation faults and the respective fault costs to support the development and testing of monitoring and optimization algorithms.

TOPIC 4

Contribute to the development and testing for fault detection and diagnosis rules, tailored for our state-of-the-art Building X cloud solution. Design rules and respective test cases and support cost of faults evaluation.

TOPIC 5

Update an existing software to import engineered HVAC control solutions from the latest engineering system into Matlab/Simulink.

  • You study at a University in the area of Mechanical or Electrical Engineering or Information Technology
  • You have good analytics skills and are self-driven and proactive
  • You feel at home in a development environment
  • Fluent business English is required and German is a plus
  • Starting date: as soon as possible
