EPFL's Living Patterns Laboratory and the Laboratory of Statistical Biophysics seek a highly organized Laboratory Technician to support daily lab operations, including culture maintenance, preparation of buffers and media, and coordinating purchasing and equipment maintenance.

The role emphasizes meticulous record-keeping, clear scientific communication, and collaboration across research groups, with a planned 80% activity rate, a fixed-term contract of 1 year renewable, and rotation to cover

Qualifikationen

• Practical experience in biological laboratory work, including culture maintenance and buffer/media preparation.
• Excellent organizational skills and meticulous attention to detail.
• Ability to manage multiple priorities in a dynamic research environment.
• Ability to document procedures, samples and results clearly and consistently.
• Strong written and spoken scientific communication.

Aufgaben

• Coordinate day-to-day laboratory operations: purchasing, inventory, equipment maintenance and space organization.
• Develop and maintain lab documentation, SOPs, and organization systems.
• Maintain cultures and cell stocks (bacteria, yeast, ciliates, Chlamydomonas) with traceability.
• Participate in weekend/public holiday rotations for culture maintenance.
• Prepare buffers, media, reagents, and stocks for experiments with accurate documentation.
• Support existing workflows and contribute to new lab procedures.
• Ensure compliance with biosafety and institutional regulations.
• Facilitate communication and coordination between two research groups in a collaborative environment.
