Zusammenfassung

CERN seeks a Mechanical Engineer for the CMS High Granularity Calorimeter project. You will lead the assembly, testing and installation of large mechanical structures, including 250-tonne detector handling, CO2 cooling, dry gas, cabling and fibre services, with 3D CAD and FE analysis support.

The role requires collaboration in a multinational team, performing structural/thermal calculations and developing detector assemblies, with onsite work in a demanding underground environment.

Qualifikationen

• Experience in planning, coordinating handling, assembly and testing of large mechanical structures.
• Experience performing thermal and structural calculations for complex mechanisms using FE methods.
• Experience developing mechanical assemblies with 3D CAD tools.

Aufgaben

• Coordinate technicians assembling/testing steel structures for HGCAL (200+ tonnes).
• Provide engineering support for large-scale detector components and stacking of cassettes.
• Integrate hadronic/electromagnetic sections and test them on surface.
• Assist lowering endcaps into CMS cavern and connect services.
