Job summary

The Swiss Air-Rescue Rega in Samedan/GR seeks a highly qualified helicopter pilot for air rescue operations. The role involves conducting rescue and transfer flights under both VFR and IFR, in international and regional regions, with on-call, 24-hour shifts essential to the job.

Ideal candidates hold an EASA helicopter license with night (NIT) and mountain (MOU) endorsements, >2,500 total hours (2,000 turbine hours), and a native German speaker with strong English skills; Italian is a plus.

Qualifications

• Completed vocational training or higher school leaving certificate.
• Valid EASA helicopter pilot license with night and mountain extensions; >2,500 hours (2,000 on turbine helicopters).
• Residence in the Engadine region; native German with good English; Italian an advantage.
• Valid first aid certificate; strong technical understanding; MS 365 knowledge.

Responsibilities

• Conduct rescue and transfer flights under visual and instrument flight rules (day/night) in Germany and neighboring countries.
• Ensure safe and smooth flight operations as a crew member.
• Willingness to work irregular hours (on-call duty, 24-hour shifts).
• Maintain contact with partners and participate in expert committees.

The Swiss Air-Rescue Rega provides professional, 24/7 medical assistance from the air to patients in Switzerland and worldwide. It is a non-profit, private foundation supported by more than 3.7 million donors.

We are looking for a motivated individual to join our team in Samedan/GR starting September 1, 2027. In this diverse field of work, you can fully utilize your passion for helicopter air rescue.

• Ensuring safe and smooth flight operations as a crew member

That's what makes you stand out

• Completed vocational training or higher school leaving certificate
• Valid EASA license as a professional helicopter pilot with extensions for night flying (NIT) and Swiss mountains (MOU) as well as proven flight experience (> 2,500 hours, of which 2,000 on turbine helicopters)
• If possible:

• Experience in mountain air rescue
• Flight license on a twin-engine helicopter
• Reliable, independent, team-oriented, and physically and mentally resilient personality with a strong service orientation.
• Native German speaker with good communication skills in English; Italian is an advantage.

• Good user knowledge of Microsoft 365
• Age up to 45 years
• Residence in the region of the Engadine Rega base
