Job summary

FenX is seeking a hands-on Mechanical Equipment Development Engineer to develop, test, and industrialise equipment used in mineral foam production. You will own internal equipment development projects from concept to industrial transfer.

The role is based in Turgi (Baden) in the Zürich metropolitan area with about 30% travel to suppliers and customers for testing, commissioning, and validation. Key activities include CAD modeling, prototyping, documentation, and collaboration with external

Qualifications

• Degree in mechanical engineering, mechatronics, product development, process engineering, or a related technical discipline.
• 3–5 years relevant experience in equipment development, machine design, process equipment, industrial machinery, Sondermaschinenbau, prototyping, pilot plants, or related environments.
• Strong mechanical design and CAD skills, plus hands-on experience building, modifying, testing and commissioning equipment.
• Experience collaborating with multidisciplinary teams and external partners.
• Good understanding of sensors, actuators, controls, instrumentation, and data acquisition.
• Hands-on, resourceful, self-starting with a builder mindset to turn ideas into robust industrial solutions.
• Willingness to travel; fluent in English and good working knowledge of German.

Responsibilities

• Lead equipment development projects from concept through commissioning and industrial transfer.
• Prepare functional specifications and technical requirements for process equipment.
• Create CAD models, drawings, prototypes, and experimental test setups.
• Support installation, commissioning, validation, and optimization at customer sites.
• Collaborate with external partners to transfer validated concepts into industrial solutions.
• Build and maintain engineering documentation and know-how to support scale-up and industrialization.
