This global role ensures seamless supply of all assigned clinical studies across defined markets, customers, and patients worldwide.

Opportunity

As the Global Head of Global Clinical Supply Chain Management, you will lead a global team of 300+ FTEs across Switzerland, USA and Canada, overseeing demand, supply and budget planning, supply chain design, packaging and label development, and execution of packaging and local storage. You will shape and execute the end-to-end clinical supply strategy, coach and inspire teams, foster innovation, and drive operational excellence to deliver patient-focused outcomes.

Your Key Responsibilities

• Lead the end-to-end planning and execution of clinical trial supplies, including demand and supply planning for all drug products, budget forecasting, supply chain design per trial, patient kit and label development, and operation of packaging and global distribution.
• Foster seamless collaboration with clinical operations and the broader drug product supply organization to enable trial success and timely delivery of medicines to patients.

Leadership & Strategy

• Lead a large global organization by coaching and motivating talent and supporting career growth of team members.
• Build and maintain partnerships with senior stakeholders to enable cross-functional collaboration and maximize impact.
• Lead organizational innovation by developing creative strategies that enhance efficiency and long-term impact.
• Optimize financial stewardship by managing functional budgets, project costs, inventory, and waste while setting and achieving departmental targets.
• Ensure CMC productivity and uncompromising compliance with GMP, regulatory, and trade requirements, safeguarding operational excellence and business continuity.

Global Planning & Production Readiness

• Establish and lead global supply strategies for all clinical programs.
• Drive forecasting and planning to deliver manageable API, DP, and packaging plans.
• Oversee PTD(S) Network Planning and run a PTD S&OP process.
• Deliver simulations to increase efficiency, speed, and cost savings; provide budget forecasts and sourcing for commercial and comparator drugs.
• Ensure packaging order readiness and manage external packaging operations, sourcing activities, and labeling processes.

Global Operations & Distribution

• Lead the design of packaging solutions across all trial phases.
• Oversee in-house packaging, labeling, and warehousing operations; establish compliance, quality, and continuous improvement processes.
• Manage manufacturing assets and capital spending strategies; lead the global clinical supplies distribution network and logistics providers.
• Ensure import/export compliance and own the global distribution strategy, driving environmental sustainability initiatives.

Qualifications & Experience

• Extensive experience in Planning, Manufacturing, Quality, or Regulatory functions, preferably in Biotechnology/Pharmaceuticals.
• Master’s degree in Life Sciences, Engineering, or Business (Operations Management or Supply Chain Management); MBA or advanced degree preferred.
• Strong knowledge of industry supply chain practices and outsourcing; experience with LEAN, operational excellence, and business process management.
• APICS CPIM, CIRM certifications are a plus.
• Knowledge of SAP and digital tools; fluency in English with any German language ability considered a plus.
