handwerker is seeking a Freight & Customs Operations Specialist based in Basel to optimize international freight movements, ensure customs compliance, and reduce costs. The role links internal teams, suppliers, freight forwarders and brokers to address documentation and compliance efficiently.

The successful candidate will balance freight execution, customs awareness and proactive communication to support fast-moving operations while adhering to regulatory requirements.

Qualifikationen

• Background in Logistics, Supply Chain, International Trade, Customs or a related field.
• At least 5 years of experience in freight forwarding, transport coordination, customs support or international logistics.
• Strong communication skills and ability to coordinate with internal stakeholders, suppliers, freight forwarders and customs brokers.
• Good understanding of international freight operations, import/export processes and customs documentation.
• Exposure to airfreight, urgent shipments, aerospace or high‑value goods is a plus.

Aufgaben

• Coordinate international shipments with freight forwarders, carriers, customs brokers, suppliers and internal stakeholders
• Manage shipment execution from pickup through delivery
• Support AOG and time‑critical shipments, including documentation readiness and escalation
• Support customs and trade activities by ensuring required documentation is complete and compliant prior to shipment
• Assist with subcontracting and supplier logistics flows, including readiness and documentation
• Monitor shipment performance, costs and risks, escalate when needed
• Support regional and cross‑site flows beyond Basel when required
• Review basic customs documentation: invoice, packing list, HS code, origin, value, Incoterms
• Escalate complex customs or trade compliance topics to internal experts
• Support temporary export/import, repair and special customs regimes
• Contribute to reporting, KPI tracking and freight invoice validation
• Participate in process improvements and standardized procedures
