Job summary

Pilatus Aircraft Ltd is seeking a Flight Physics Engineer to develop and validate flight simulation models for trainer aircraft. You will contribute to flight dynamics, control loading systems, and engine/models integration within complex hardware/software-in-the-loop environments.

The role requires strong programming in C++, Python and MATLAB/Simulink, plus experience with MOOG and integrating models into training devices.

Qualifications

• Master's degree in Aeronautical Engineering or a related field with a focus on flight physics and complex systems.
• Proven experience with C++, Python, MATLAB/Simulink and flight control models.
• Experience with MOOG and hardware/software-in-the-loop training devices.
• Willingness to travel internationally.
• Knowledge of simulator regulations and standards (EASA, FAA, ICAO).
• Fluent English (C1); German a plus.

Responsibilities

• Develop software for simulation of physical and systems for trainer aircrafts, including flight, ground, atmospheric, and engine models.
• Ensure models comply with simulator levels and regulations (EASA, ICAO, FAA) and maintain the QTG.
• Process ground and flight test data with focus on flight simulation and QTG development.
• Prepare and manage technical specifications, requirements, and design documentation.
• Assist installation and testing at customer site, with possible international travel.
• Support after-sales technical activities and customer inquiries.

GBTS Flight Physics Engineer

Your Tasks

• Develop software for the simulation of physical and systems of trainer aircrafts including: flight models, ground dynamic models, atmoshperic models, flight control models, control loading system, engines models, propeller models and autopilot models
• Ensure that the simulation models comply with the applicable simulator levels and regulations (EASA, ICAO, FAA) and maintain the Qualification Test Guide (QTG)
• Process ground and flight test data in coordination with the Aircraft Engineering business unit (flight physics, avionics, propulsion, mechanical systems), with focus on flight simulation models development and QTG development
• Support system engineering tasks related to the software produced, including writing technical specifications, managing requirements, redacting compliances matrices and design documentation
• Support system installation and testing at customer site until system enters into service, which may require international travels
• Support after-sales technical activities (e.g., query answering, technical investigations) as required by the customer support team

With this you convince us

• Master's degree in Aeronautical Engineering or a related field with a focus on flight physics and complex systems
• Experience with C++, Python, and MATLAB/Simulink, control loading systems (e.g., MOOG), and the integration of models into training devices with complex hardware/software-in-the-loop environments
• Minimum of 4 years of experience in automatic flight control systems or control systems; experience with the integration of real or simulated avionics is an advantage
• Knowledge of applicable simulator regulations and standards (e.g., EASA, FAA, ICAO)
• Experience in systems engineering is an advantage as well as willingness to travel internationally
• Fluent English skills at C1 level; German would be an advantage
