Job summary

TotalEnergies Gas & Power (TGP) is seeking a GPE Shift Operator to support the management of physical gas and power portfolios across Europe. The role operates 24/7 and requires working nights, weekends, and holidays.

You will interact with Gas, Power and LNG trading desks, affiliates, and external counterparties, ensuring timely nominations and balancing reports while upholding market rules and internal procedures.

Qualifications

• University degree in Mathematics, Economics, Engineering, Science or a relevant quantitative discipline.
• At least 1 year of relevant industry experience in gas/power operations or energy trading.
• Strong numerical and analytical skills and comfort with large data volumes.
• Fluent in English; additional European languages are a plus.
• Resilient with quick, accurate decision-making in a fast-moving environment.
• Willingness to work in a 24/7 shift organisation, including nights and weekends.
• Collaborative with stakeholders across multiple teams.
• Attention to detail and sound commercial judgement.

Responsibilities

• Manage physical gas and power positions across UK and Continental European markets.
• Nominate physical positions to transporters, TSOs and other market participants using dedicated systems.
• Monitor intraday and day-ahead market movements.
• Balance the portfolio by responding to changes in supply and demand and instructions from trading/procurement desks.
• Commercially optimise physical positions outside standard office hours through electronic energy exchanges and OTC transactions.
• Prepare balancing reports for upstream gas portfolios.
• Ensure entry and exit capacity requirements are managed.
• Liaise with counterparties and resolve data discrepancies.
• Contribute to business developments and improvements.
